FAQs
Can we dive?
Yes! All of your breathing underwater is self contained, so you can get as close to your buddy as you like! You may dive with people outside your household BUT buddy checks must be performed with a 1m+ distance and extra safety precautions must be taken on trips (eg. face covering, hand sanitiser).
Are you taking new members ?
Yes! We are taking on both new divers with no scuba qualification and qualified divers, whichever agency they are trained with. See the links for information and join our welcome meeting. Trips will run a little differently this year, and we are looking to be as social and inclusive as possible while complying with distancing.
How will we socialise?
We’re continuously watching the government, university and sports union guidelines to make sure we’re being safe. For now, we’re sticking to online events. Watch our facebook page for the most up to date info from Alex, our Social Sec.
I’m worried with distancing it’ll be really difficult to get to know other new and current members - help?
This year we’re introducing scuba families with a mixture of current and new members, including qualified and learner divers, so that you have a few people in a small unit to start getting involved with, and some oldies to show you the ropes. We’re planning family dinners, quiz teams etc, which are on a small scale and can meet indoors with distancing measures. It’s a great way to get to know a few familiar faces.
Can I hire club kit?
Yes. Due to Covid, our club kit hire system is very fluid and subject to change. Currently, members can hire equipment, but kit officers must know when (and who) the lockup is accessed (by). New cleaning protocols have been put in place for club kit. These details can be found at the cleaning station in the lockup, as well as our covid diving document.
